Sri Lankan Captain, Tillakaratne Dilshan hopeful of leveling series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 – Cricket News Update
Sri Lankan captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TM-Dilshan-c2691, talked about his team's chances ahead of the second Test against Australia, saying that the team will go all out to the level the series.
Even though they were touted as favorites before the start of the series, the hosts went down easily, outplayed by a young Kangaroo side.
However, the Lankan skipper believes that the team is in a much better shape and has the confidence to topple a revamped Australian contingent.
"In the last two days we've had good training sessions, everyone is ready to play their part in this match. I think we have the confidence [to bounce back], everyone is good mentally,” he said.
Also, fast bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/UWMBCA-Welegedara-c2735 struggled in the practice session due to a sore knee.
Dilshan said that the team is assessing the progress of the left-armer and will make a final call on the eve of the second test.
Meanwhile, the skipper has come under pressure for his own batting performances of late, which have let the team down. His aggressive nature has come to his demise on more than one occasion through the course of the series, but Dilshan believes he will carry
on batting with aggression.
"I do need to put some runs on the board, especially at the start. The start is really important," Dilshan said. "Definitely this wicket will help the batsmen - all the batsmen can take advantage and score some runs.
"We have talked about what happened in the last match. This is a new match, a new wicket, new conditions. We're looking forward to coming in with new tactics."
It is a must win game for the hosts, who lacked discipline in the first Test. However, with the pitch expected to assist the batters, it will be ideal for the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397 and Dilshan himself, to make full use of the conditions
and stage a strong comeback in the series.
The second Test match will start on Thursday at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
