Sri Lankan cricket captain, Tillakaratne Dilshan, vows to bounce back against England
Sri Lankan captain Tillakaratane Dilshan is in shock after a defeat against England in the first Test of the three match series but vows to bounce back hard in the next two matches of the series.
England defeated the visitors in the first match by an innings and 14 runs in an emphatic fashion. The Test match seemed to be approaching towards a draw and looked like a dead rubber till the very last day of the match when the Sri Lankan batting fell like
a house of cards in the second innings, being dismissed for a mere 82 runs to hand over this victory to the home side.
Dilshan praised the efforts of the English team and said that Andrew Strauss and his men are one of world’s best teams in the longer version of the game.
He admitted that it is a huge challenge for the visitors to dismantle the English team in the Test series as they are playing some amazing cricket at the moment.
He said, "You can see that they have been playing very good cricket the last few years. In the last six or seven months they have beaten Australia in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, and they have also beaten Australia here”.
This is a real test of Dilshan’s character as the current tour of England is his first complete series while leading his country.
He does not even have the luxury of having some extra-ordinary bowlers in his ranks as the likes of Muttiah Muralitharan, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chaminda-Vaas-c1223 and Lasith Malinga have retired from Test cricket.
Sri Lankan captains, in the past, have considered themselves lucky in this regard, therefore, the cricket fans from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 should be patient with Dilshan and give him some time to settle down.
However, Dilshan showed intent to win while talking to reporters, saying that the series is not finished yet and his team is capable of leveling the series in the next match.
“But you can't say from this performance that they are the best team, and we will wait and see what happens in the next couple of matches", Dilshan added.
