Dudnath Ramkessoon, the chairman of the senior selection panel of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 tour would be the real test of newly appointed skipper Darren Sammy’s leadership skills.
The former national cricket captain, who was re-elected as the chairman of the senior selection panel last year, hailed Sammy’s commitment to the West Indies cricket and said that a team effort under 26-year-old’s captaincy can bring some good results for
the Caribbean fans.
"He is certainly a tryer and is committed to West Indies cricket 150 per cent and if he can motivate the others around him to follow his lead then we should see some good results," said the chief selector.
The 26-year-old all-rounder was named as West Indies captain removing Jamaican Chris Gayle from the leadership role ending his three-year tenure in charge. Sammy, with only eight Test and 43 ODI appearances, will bring a little experience with him but is
eager to bring the passion and pride of 1970’s and 80’s back to West Indies Cricket.
"My role as captain firstly will be to lead from the front. I intend to bring energy, passion and performance to this West Indies set-up," said Sammy upon his arrival in Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
But Ramkessoon said that the true test of Sammy’s skills will be when he faces the Lankans on the field.

West Indies has not won a Test against Sri Lanka over the past 10 years and are at the bottom of the ICC Test Ranking’s table while Kumar Sangakkara’s men are fresh from humbling http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in the ODI series down under.
The opening Test between the two sides starts on Monday in Galle.
