Sri Lanka’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BAW-Mendis-c1127 might have faked an injury to skip Pallekele Test: Sri Lankan newspaper
According to a report in a Sri Lankan newspaper, spinner Ajantha Mendis did not want to play the second Test of the three-match series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, which started from Thursday, September 8, 2011.
Mendis was all set to be a part of the playing eleven of the team for the second Test, but reported a back problem to the management due to which he was not risked in the game.
However, the newspaper claimed, “The cricket hierarchy suspected Mendis of faking the injury. Mendis was named in the playing eleven on the eve of the second Test, but had complained of back pain to a senior member of the Sri Lankan side on the morning of
the Test Match.”
The spinner’s manager http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lincoln-Clement-Roshan-Abeysinghe-c72894 denied the allegations saying, “Mendis is in Colombo to do a scan in order to ascertain the exact condition of the back problem. Once the scan is done, the reports will be shown to the team management to ascertain
the situation even further.”

However, things did not go well for the hosts, as they lost the One Day International (ODI) series by a margin of 3-2. They failed to make an impression in Test matches as well, losing the first one and struggling in the second being played at Pallekele.

led side.
This allowed the Aussies to dominate the game, as they have already gained a 237-run first innings lead over the home team with three more wickets remaining until the end of day-three.
The only chance for Sri Lanka will be to play for a draw from here onwards, which will mean that they will lose the chances of winning the series.
