Sri Lanka’s Chief Selector Confirms http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tillakaratne-Mudiyanselage-Dilshan-c93947 fit for 1st ODI against England – Cricket News Update
Sri Lanka’s injured skipper, Tillakaratne Dilshan, has been termed fit by the chief selector of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), after rumours that suggested that the opening batsman may not have recovered from a thumb injury which he sustained in the second Test
match against England.
However, it is now believed that the batsman after missing the third Test will finally lead his team in the first one-day match of a five-match series.
In the absence of Dilshan, former skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964.
Now with England having to face the Sri Lankans under their newly appointed one-day skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-James-Muchall-c60376 stronger Lankan side in the shorter version
of the game.
Dilshan is considered a one-day specialist and if his thumb holds up, he is surely going to wreak havoc on the English bowlers.
Meanwhile, England will be going into the match with a defeat in the only T20 by the hands of the tourists in their minds, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 eased to a nine
run victory at Bristol.
The Lankans were led by Vice-captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sahan-Hewa-Thilina-Kandamby-c87923, in the T20 game, while the Asian side also saw the comeback of the most prolific opening batsman in the history of one-day cricket, Sanath Jayasuria, who was selected only for two international games
to take a final bow from international cricket.
Sanath contributed eight runs in the T20 victory over England, where the hard hitting batsman also took two wickets in three overs.
With the return of Dilshan, England’s newly appointed one-day skipper will be aiming to give the batsman a run for his money as it is quite known that if Dilshan gets going he will be extremely difficult to contain.
Speaking on the first one-dayer, Cook said, “As an international player you have to prove yourself and I am excited about that challenge. My One-Day game has evolved since I last played. I scored runs in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 and I scored them quickly and I know I
have got the talent and the skill to do it."
