Sri Lanka’s interim coach Stuart Law accepts English Challenge
The interim coach of Sri Lanka, Stuart Law is anticipating a better show by his side in the upcoming series against England this summer.
Law is the new Sri Lankan coach who took over from Bayliss and commenced his assignment with the new Captain, Tillakaratne Dilshan.
Dilshan relieved Kumar Sangakkara, who stepped down from captaincy after the World Cup.
He acknowledged that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 is one of the top teams at the moment, but he feels that the Lankan Lions will give them a tough fight throughout the series.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 started the tour on a positive note, beating Middlesex by four wickets.
Tillakaratne Dilshan and Tharanga Paranavitana scored unbeaten centuries in the first inning and their bowlers also did well with 18 wickets in two innings.
Andrew Strauss, the English Captain also participated and posted 151 runs in the first inning of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Middlesex-c817.
Law further commented, "It's no easy task going up against the best Test team in the world at the moment, they've had a fantastic 18 months, we know we are up against it here but we aren't here to lose. We can match them if we apply ourselves and keep things simple. We can be a devastating team and that's what we are planning on doing. We are here to play cricket the way Sri Lanka play cricket and if we do we'll be successful."
Sri Lanka is without the services of king spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Muttiah-Muralitharan-c78157, who has taken retirement from cricket. They will be missing pacer Lasith Malinga as well, since he quit Test cricket.
However, the Lankan batting line-up is quite strong and will get only stronger with the inclusion of veteran’s Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene.
Law is hopeful that the team will bring back glory to the nation by winning the Test series for the first time ever.
"At this stage it's a wondeful opportunity to work with one of the best teams in the world so, yes, I am keen, I've got this tour to show what I'm capable of,” expressed Law.
