Srikanth K. stuns Ajay Jayaram in Men’s Singles round-of-16 at Syed Modi International India GPG
India’s upcoming male shuttler Srikanth K. put up spectacular show and stole the limelight by finishing off his higher ranked compatriot Ajay Jayaram in Men’s Singles round-of-16 at Syed Modi International India GPG 2012 at Lucknow, on Thursday, December
20.
The in-form Srikanth, an un-seeded player in Men’s Singles category in the event, displayed his superb skills in the arena and shocked his fourth seeded challenger Jayaram by taking 41 minutes.
Srikanth has been working really hard for the last couple of years and has come of age as he trounced his experienced challenger in an inspiring fashion and remained successful in winning the battle with a reasonable margin on the board.
On the other hand, the fourth seeded Jayaram put in his best effort to play aggressive badminton but failed to live up to expectations and eventually lost to his lower ranked team-mate in straight games.
The hard to match speed and powerful strokes of Srikanth helped him to take control of the affairs from the initial points of opening game.
Srikanth proved that he has attained top class skills in the arena and eventually successful in taking a strong position on court.
Until the one-minute interval, the aggressive Srikanth was leading the game with a wonderful difference.
Meanwhile, Jayaram tried his best to put up strong resistance but failed to take charge of the game and remained trailing in the concluding part.
Srikanth continued hitting powerful strokes in targeted areas and grabbed the first game with a reasonable difference of 21-18.
In the second game, Srikanth played with reasonable speed without sparing any opportunity for Jayaram to find a good flow.
Srikanth displayed his incredible skills on court by picking the bird timely from all areas and maintained his domination over his rival.
The impressive Srikanth continued putting up reasonable performance in the second half of second game and remained successful in grabbing the game with a superb 21-18 difference on score board.
The un-seeded Indian man remained successful in stamping his mark over Jayaram in this Men’s Singles pre-quarter-final match with a convincing margin of 21-18 and 21-18.
