  1. maybe it could be a rumour if you are so worried just contact the concerned government authority like cmda for details, dont get panicked.Nothing will go against you if you have clear documents like patta etc.even if the govt takes over your land you will get compensation.

  2. It appears, from the exceprt from the following article, among many others that I found, that they are being thwarted by the government in these attempts. Any such deals they now have developing are apprently being kept secret, although, per their history, I would not at all assume they are not still trying to obtain lands:

"Chennai, March 3: The Madras High Court today ordered that status quo be maintained in respect of a Tamil Nadu government order, cancelling allotment of 104.71 acres of government industrial land near here to a Singapore-based company for construction of residential flats.

Giving the direction on a writ petition by Singapore Reality Private Ltd., Justice F M Ibrahim Kallifulla ordered counsel for the state government and state Small Industries promotion Corporation (SIPCOT) to take notice on behalf of their clients, returnable within two weeks.

In the petition challenging the February 17 last G.O. and the subsequent letter of February 28 from SIPCOT informing the company of the cancellation, the real estate company of Singapore contended that scrapping of the MOU between it and the state government violated principles of natural justice.

The company was allotted the land, located at Siruseri village on the Old Mahabalipuram Road, at the rate of Rs 15 lakh per acre. No show cause notice had been issued to it, informing about the cancellation of MoU, for which the process had been initiated in 2002. "

  3. Yes, The Government can acquire any private land, if it finds the place is required, for other purpose. For exact details of any such notification, please visit SIPCOT Office, and meet the land recovery officer, or even the notice board. Good luck.
