Srivastava defends self against spot-fixing allegations – Cricket News Update
Maintaining his innocence and stressing that he has been out of action owing to a knee injury, Indian pacer Shalabh http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Srivastava-c90841 has insisted that the current allegations of spot-fixing that have been leveled at him are an attempt to frame him.
“I am innocent and … being framed. I have not played for UP in both the 2011 and 2012 seasons due to a knee injury,” he said, adding that he had been resting at home, and was in no position to promise no-balls to anyone.
“I have not been playing IPL matches because of this, I am not even in the squad of 15. I am in Lucknow for the past one month, so how can I fix matches?” he demanded while talking to
PTI, going on to insist that the accusations against him were false and an attempt to wreck his career.
Srivastava, who is associated with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013), and has been out of action ever since. He last played
for the Kings XI in the 2011 edition of the league, and was not included in the team’s squad for the current 2012 edition.
His name recently came into the spotlight when Indian TV channel, India TV, recently revealed that a sting operation had exposed five uncapped players in the IPL5 - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Amit-Yadav-c44060
(Kings XI Punjab), Mohnish Mishra (Pune http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abhinav-Bali-c41754 – to be involved in spot-fixing.
A recording of a telephonic conversation featured a player negotiating a price for agreeing to bowl a no-ball, and the player in question is alleged to be Srivastava. However, the 30-year-old is adamant that the audio clip is doctored.
“… if they [the channel] are showing all the video clips, why aren't they showing the clip where I allegedly am demanding Rs 10 lakh?” he said in a separate interview, this time to
NDTV, adding that the voice in the video was not his.
Srivastava went on to state that he would not get intimidated by the attempts being made on his career, and come out clean, going on to express his willingness to present his case to the BCCI if necessary.
“… I have already spoken to KXIP officials and they have promised to support me through this,” he said.
