  1. I love it there! I live in daytona beach and I go to St. Augustine all the time! The beach and shopping is awesome and its pretty quiet in the developments. Its also very pretty and there are many historic sites if you like history! Your also not that far from dolphin stadium if you like to go watch football and baseball games. The movie theature there is huge and nice! i love it there and I am sure you will like it too :]

  2. I live in St. Augustine.

    I love it here.

The costs are comparable to most other places.

Find a job, before you move.

    Schools are good too.

  3. I don't live there but I got to go for a very short visit and want to go back. I say you should go for at least a weekend vacation and see it for yourself. I can tell you that you'll probably be hooked on it after that and won't have to ask any questions. ...There are beautiful historic homes for sell right in the tourist section near the walking streets that are gorgeous but pretty expensive, well I couldn't afford them anyway (they vary but most are in the 500,000 dollar range), but look like really neat places to live right in all the action. I didn't get to tour the college cause we got their too late but what little I did see of it was really great. If you move there I'm sure you'd be happy. Good Luck.

  4. I've been there as a visitor several times, and no matter where we went, everyone was really nice,

We drove all around and it is beautiful, right near or on the beaches, great historic remnants.

Here is a link to the Chamber of Commerce , where they can answer the other question for you too:

  5. I love St. Augustine in fact we are getting ready to move there ourselves.  We go there every year for a few weeks during the summer and visit some friends of ours down there.  We just love the area and it really is a wonderful city that is pretty big yet still has that small town fell.  I think you all would love it down there, I know that we are going to!  The schools in St. John’s County are some of the best in FL.  In fact my boyfriend is an elementary teacher and has been speaking with them about a job.  They are wonderful at the district office and from everything we have seen the schools are top notch and the staff is awesome and the teachers and kids all seem to like the schools.  There are also some really good housing prices in the area.  I might even check out World Golf Village it is about 10 minutes outside of St. Augustine and a really great place with some amazing houses.  It really is like its own little village with shops, golf courses, an IMAX, restaurants, grocery store and school.  You can get some new homes or gently used homes for great prices and a lot of amenities.  I might also check out some of the neighborhoods west of town.  Our friends live out that way and pretty close to 95.  They have some great subdivisions and some wonderful houses in all price ranges.  Another good place to look is Anastasia Island.  We love the island and are looking at houses there, they are a little higher in price because of the location but the island is awesome.  All the houses are close to the beach or the intercostals water way.  You can either use the 312 bridge to get there (which is the fastest) or the bridge of Lions.  There are plenty of great places that you can walk or ride your bike to; mopeds are also very popular on the island.  There is everything you need on the island and town is just a short 5 minute drive away.  Of course living in Old Town is AWESOME!  If you can find a house in your price range, of course they go really fast down in that area.  Here are some websites I have used to start planning my move there.

The cost of living in St. Augustine is not much more from were I live now, it is one of the best values in FL.  The job market there is really good; if you do something in Medical it is even better.  Of course there are plenty of jobs in Jax which is only about 30 minutes away and is the 12th largest city in the US.  They have several of the fortune 500 company’s headquarters there and plenty of jobs in the area.  I have been looking and I am amazed at how many jobs in all fields are available. The only thing that is a little high is housing insurance.  The good thing is that the area has not been hit by a hurricane in about 80 years or something like that so in certain areas you do not have to carry this insurance.  However I am still looking at Hurricane and Flooding insurance, with my luck things will go wrong.  Our friends have lived there for 5 years and love it.  There are a lot of things to do, you are close to other great attractions in FL, the people are really nice and the community is always throwing some kind of event or festival.  We have met several people through them and all of them love the area and they would never leave.  Well I hope this helps you, again I think you would really like the area it is a beautiful place.  Good luck on your move!
