St. Bernard High boys volleyball team loses to St. Monica on Thursday by 1-3
Before Thursday night arrived, the St. Bernard High boys volleyball team was looking forward to it in order to redeem themselves for the loss that they had suffered against St. Monica last month.
However, when Thursday night went pass by, St. Bernard were further frustrated as they were unable to secure the win over their rivals which they so wanted.
St. Monica was able to defeat St. Bernard in four sets in their home court. By the time the night was out, the scoreboard displayed the following final set scores in favour of St. Monica:  25-18, 25-27, 25-10, 25-23.
With their recent win, St. Monica has now improved their overall season win record to show a total number of nine victories. The amount of times that they have suffered losses so far in this season tally to be five. Not only that, St. Monica has been able
to tie matches two times as well. If the league record of St. Monica is looked at, it shows an impressive record of six victories as compared to no defeats at all.
In contrast to this, both the overall season record and league statistics of the Vikings are not that commendable. The number of times that the Vikings have been able to register victories in this season so far total to be four. In comparison, their numbers
of losses are more than their victories. The Vikings have lost six matches so far. The league play record of the Vikings show an equal number of wins and losses at the figure of three.
The player who stood prominent in St. Monica’s superior win which translated into a win for them was Tanner Peach. Peach is the co-captain and the senior outside hitter of his team and was able to register a total number of 15 kills to keep the scoreboard
ticking for his team and pressurise St. Bernard. Other than that, Peach was also able to support his team by making six blocks.
Peach was not the only player on his team that kept St. Monica going strong. Chaz Moynaugh also made his presence felt by contributing eight kills. He was also able to actively score points by serving a total number of six aces. Moynaugh also made three
blocks and seven digs for his team.
The first set of the game did not go well for St. Bernard despite the fact that they were playing in their home ground. St. Monica did not have much of a hard time in bagging the first set of the game at 25-18.
In the second set of the game, St. Bernard was able to dominate and win at 27-25. However, this was the only set that they won as they lost the third and the fourth ones to St. Monica.
Next in line for the Vikings is a match on Wednesday.
