St Ignatius set to stand first in Betfred The Bonus King Handicap
The Alan Bailey-trained bay gelding, St Ignatius, is all set to show a stunning performance in his maiden outing at Windsor racecourse in a bid to claim the title of the Betfred The Bonus King Handicap that will be held on Monday, July 2. The Class 4 contest
over 1 mile, 2 furlongs and 7 yards will begin at 8:10 (GMT).
Considering the momentum St Ignatius is carrying at the moment, it seems to be quite easy for the 43-race veteran horse to win the £4,205 event.
Since the dawn of the calendar year, the brilliant son of Ishiguru out of Branston has been at the top of his game. With sheer confidence and strong skills, the five-year-old maverick sprinter has accomplished 6 classic conquests during this period.
The May-June had been a golden phase for the gelding as he registered a fabulous hat-trick of triumphs.
Starting from the title of Weatherbys Bank Handicap, the gifted horse won Betdaq Haydock Park Apprentice Training Series Handicap (Part Of The Racing Excellence Initiative) and Coloroll Design Handicap in a row---the first race was run at Brighton while
the rest two events took place at Haydock.
The Brighton one was good to firm ground and St Ignatius did very well over there. It shows that the experienced sprinter will make a big impact again on the similar track today.
Thus, all the odds go to the gelding’s favour. He seems to be in win-win position from all aspects. Now it is up to him how better he manages to capitalise on this favourable situation.
In the Betfred The Bonus King Handicap, St Ignatius will have to face resistance only from Indian Art who impressed the sport fans by bagging to back-to-back glaring triumphs during April 2012.
The Sylvester Kirk-trained bay gelding elegantly won 32red Casino Claiming Stakes and 32red Handicap in a row on the standard ground of Wolverhampton.
These classy feats have spiked up the horse’s confidence level greatly. In today’s contest, the son of Choisir out of Eastern Ember will surely compete hard against St Ignatius for the top position.
Let us enjoy the exciting action at Windsor and see who of the duo carries the day.
