  1. I get side effects with most conventional medication, that's why I hardly ever take it. St John's Wort never gives me any problems. Allen 55, the fact that your arthritis gets worse, is not psychosomatic. St John's Wort is also an anti inflammatory

  2. Side-effects can occur very quickly in some cases. I understand from extensive study of the link between blood types and health/disease that it is mostly those who are blood type O who have side effects. Therefore, I would never personally advise a blood type O person to take St. John's Wort. It can often do the exact opposite to that which is intended (it did to me many years ago when I took it) and bring on profound depression by raising a chemical already relatively high in the brain of a typical person who is blood type O.

  3. I've stopped taking the tablets for the summer as my skin gets very sensitive to sunlight and my eyes get sore. I am hoping to stay off for good this time, but will have to wait and see. For me the side effects start after about 3 weeks usually. I stopped about a month ago and feel not too bad, except my arthritis feels worse. That'll be psychosomatic I expect.
