St. Louis Blues’ defenseman Kris Russell joins SM-liiga of Finland once again after getting fit
Kris Russell, a professional ice hockey player and a Canadian international who plays for the St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League (NHL), has once again reached the Europe as he returns to Finland league side TPS Turku.
The defenceman had earlier reached the new team shortly after the lockout begin in September, but was sent back to his St. Louis Blues’ team after he got injured.
According to the reports, the 25 year old player was training with his Finnish team when he tore his muscle and his injury was not picked up perfectly by the doctors in Finland, which made it go worse. He went back to North America and got it checked up
by the doctors there, who gave him the right and perfect treatment.
The Caroline, Alberta native got the right treatment and got a speedy recovery, which made him fit enough to play the competitive hockey once again and he trained some days before being declared fit enough to play again and travel back to the European country
across the ocean. He would be ready to starting playing once again as he re-joins the team and could be ready to play the game which TPS Turku has to play this weekend.
The 5-foot-10, 180 pounder could play only 14 games for the St. Louis Blues last season and has not seen much of them because of the lockout which cancelled the pre-season and games for the first few weeks. He would surely be hoping for lockout to end soon
so that he can return to the home team and make his career there. It has not even been a year since Russell has been at the St. Louis, Missouri based side.
Russell was originally drafted in the 3rd round of the 2005 NHL Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets, as he was selected 67th overall. He made his debut in 2007-2008 season and played for Columbus (the team that his twin brother Ryan
Russell now plays for) for 4 and a half seasons before he was traded to Blues. With 19 goals and 61 assists for a total of 80 points in 290 games, Russell is among high scoring defensemen of NHL.
