St. Louis Blues humiliate the Detroit Red Wings 10-3 – NHL Recap
The Detroit Red Wings played host to the St. Louis Blues at the Joe Louis Arena in what turned out to be the first game in which a team scored ten goals in a single game during the 2010-11 National Hockey League season, as the Blues comprehensively beat
the Red Wings 10-3. The Red Wings were looking to win and maintain their second spot in the standings ahead of the San Jose Sharks while the Blues were playing the spoilers, as they are out of play-off contention.
Both teams got off to a flying start, as they first shots on goal saw the Red Wings scoring to take the lead. The Blues showed their productivity after some splendid plays and they scored two goals to get into the lead. The final few minutes saw both teams
scoring a goal apiece and the period ended with the Blues leading 3-2. The Blues showed their strong and successful offence once again, as they bagged five goals in the second period compared to the one scored by the Red Wings. The game followed the same pattern
in the final period where there were plenty of shots on goal, but it was the Blues who scored twice to win the game 10-3 in the end. Chris Stewart was named the Star of the Game, as he scored a goal and came up with two assists.
The Red Wings got the home crowd excited with a goal in the sixth minute which was scored by Mike Modano from a powerful strike. However, the Blues increased their aggressiveness after that and they scored two goals in succession in the 15th and
17th minute to get into the lead. The goals were scored by Chris Stewart and Cam Janssen respectively.
The Red Wings successfully levelled the score with a goal in the 18th minute by Todd Bertuzzi from a tip-in shot, but the Blues got back into the lead with another goal in the 19th minute through Chris Porter. The period ended with
the Blues leading 3-2.
The second period witnessed the Blues exploding right from the start and they scored two goal in the second and sixth minutes to get into a comfortable position. The goals were scored by Matt D’Agostini and BJ Crombeen.
The period saw both teams continuing to hunt for goals, but it was the Blues who scored once again in the 11th minute through David Backes. The Red Wings scored through Henrik Zetterberg in the 13th minute, but the Blues scored in the
15th minute through Roman p***k and then scored once again in the 17th minute through Vladimir Sobotka to end the period after a dominating show of ice hockey. The period ended with the Blues leading 8-3.
The final 20 minutes of play began with the Blues bagging another goal in the seventh minute through Patrik Berglund from a quick fired shot. The Red Wings had plenty of scoring chances, but they were not successful and it was the Blues who scored once again
in the 18th minute through Chris Porter to win the game 10-3.
