St. Louis Blues play host to the Defending champions Chicago Blackhawks - NHL Previews
The second game of Monday will be hosted by the St. Louis Blues as they square off against the defending champions, Chicago Blackhawks. Both teams have met four times during the course of the season and this will be the fifth out of the six scheduled meetings
between the two sides.
Both teams have won two games each out of the four previous meeting with the Blues winning the last game 3-1 on the 28th of December 2010. The Hawks are determined to come up with a good show this time out as they look to make it into the play-offs.
Maintaining a three games winning streak, the Hawks will be looking come up with another good show as they look to notch up vital points.
The race for the play-offs in the Western has still not decided. The reason for this is the fact that the third placed team and the 11th team in the Conference are separated by just five points. The Hawks are in the 11th spot in the
Conference and still in hope for a play-off spot.
The Hawks season has been highly inconsistent and things are by no way near where they were expected to be. However, this Sunday as the Hawks faced the Penguins in a clash between the last two Stanley Cup champions, they came up with a brilliant performance
that saw them winning after shootout.
The level of inconsistency in the Hawks camp can be seen from the fact that this was only their third win in the last eight games. However, it was encouraging for them this was their third consecutive win. The Scottrade Arena, home of the Blues hasn’t given
them much as they have lost their last three games there. But this is a very good opportunity for the Hawks to strong some wins in their hunt for a play-off spot.
The Hawks have played 59 games during the season so far. Out of these games they have 30 games in regulation time, six games in overtime and scored a total of 66 points. On the other hand, the Blues aren’t far behind with 63 points. They have played 57 games
during the season out of which they have won 27 games in regulation time and nine games in overtime.
The race for the play-off spots in still open and the Blues have a good chance in that too. If they manage to come up with a win against the Hawks, then they would be a point behind them and get in the running for the play-offs too.
The Blues have been in top form recently which will make the game all the more exciting. Their last game against the Anaheim Ducks saw them absolutely dominate the game and win the game 9-3. This was their third consecutive win and things are looking pretty
good for the Blues.
Both teams have same aspirations and determination to win the game so that they make it into the play-off cut. The game will be exciting and entertaining undoubtedly and make the Western Conference tougher.
