St. Louis Blues plays host to Montreal Canadiens in their single meeting of the season
St. Louis Blues will be playing host to Montreal Canadiens in another one of Thursday’s games at the Scottrade Center.
This is the lone meeting between the two during the course of the season.
The last time they met was during last season as Blues came up with a decent performance that saw them winning the game by 4-3.
Jaroslav Halak will be facing Canadiens for the first time during the season after moving to Blues. He was the hero for Canadiens during last year’s playoffs. Can he do the same this time out?
However, the bigger problem ahead of Canadiens is that one of their main players, Max Pacioretty, got injured in his last game against Bruins and had multiple fractures.
"The players feel for their teammate," Montreal’s coach, Jacques Martin, said in a prepared statement. "Max is a popular teammate. He is a young player learning the ropes of playing in the National Hockey League and he had some great mentors here."
Canadiens were looking like a good unit in their recent game against Bruins during which they scored four goals to win the game by 4-0 in the end.
Lars Eller came up with a splendid performance that saw him scoring twice during the game.
"The most important thing is that we're all hoping Max is going to recover well and hopefully he’ll be back with us soon," Eller said. "We're happy we got the win and we played a really good team game today so we're happy about that.
Both the teams have played 67 games during the course of the season out which they Canadiens have won 37 games in regulation time and seven games in overtime to score a total of 81 points.
On the other hand, Blues have won 30 games in regulation time and nine games in overtime, scoring 69 points.
Though Blues still have a chance of making it into the playoffs, this doesn’t mean that they can relax.
They need to put their foot on the gas and start attacking and winning games. Their goal keeper returned from injury and made 19 saves during the game to win by 4-3 against Columbus Blue Jackets this Wednesday.
The offence of Blues is getting better as this time out they managed to come back from a two goals’ deficit to win the game.
"In the third period, we knew we were going to have to play," Blues’ coach, Davis Payne, said. "We knew we wanted keep working and let effort create results. Our guys did that. We found a way to get to overtime and then a great play on a rush advantage gives
us the win."
