St. Louis Blues re-sign David Perron to four-years, $15.25 million -NHL Free Agency Update
St. Louis Blues have come to terms with restricted free agent, David Perron, who signed with the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise for another four seasons, giving him $15.25 million with an annual salary cap hit of $3.812 million, announced the team
on Thursday, July 5, 2012.
General Manager of the St. Louis Blues’ team, Doug Armstrong, made the announcement via a statement released by the club.
"We're excited to have David in the fold for the next four years," GM Doug Armstrong said. "He made a great comeback by scoring 21 goals in 57 games. We're comfortable with his health, and we're confident that he will continue to build on his offence."
Perron has always been a top level scorer for the St. Louis Blues and with 42 points (21 goals, 21 assists) in just 57 games played last season, the left winger definitely has the potential of becoming one of the best next time around.
He was definitely excited to be signed on to the club for another couple of years and with more money, comes more expectations to perform in the NHL, something which Perron does not have any issue in doing.
"I love the city of St. Louis and I'm thrilled to play in front of these awesome fans for another four years," Perron said. "We had an excellent regular season but we all feel this team has so much more to accomplish."
Hit by San Jose Shark’s Joe Thornton in November of 2010, the young forward suffered a major concussion that kept him limited to just 10 games during the 2010-2011 regular season. Last season was a comeback or him, but still not fully, and hopes next season
will be the one where he does it.
Perron was drafted as the 26th overall by St. Louis Blues back in 2007 Entry Draft and has been a part of the club ever since.
Another player left to sign by St. Louis Blues is T.J. Oshie, as the two stakeholders are still in the process of negotiations, but reports indicate that he might be forced to appeal for arbitration.
