St. Louis Blues win 4-1 against the Montreal Canadiens in their playoff run 
Another one of the important games of Thursday was St. Louis Blues playing host to Montreal Canadiens at the Scottrade Arena.
The game was important for both teams with the Blues still in hope of making it into the play-offs as they still had slim chances.
Canadiens were looking to move out of the play-off battle, caught in to assure a position in the play-off cut.
Canadiens made a great start to the game which saw them scoring to get into the lead.
However, it was the Blues who stepped on the pace with the passage of time and scored to level the scores as the period ended.
The final two period where pretty much even but it was Blues who managed to score regularly to win the game 4-1 in the end.
Jaroslav Halak, goalie of the Blues was named the star of the game as he made 27 saves during the course of the game.
This game like the other games saw both teams starting off strongly but with the passage of time one team managed to outplay the other. In this case, that team was the Canadiens who started to attacks and all of a sudden got the Blues on the back foot.
Canadiens scored in the Jeff Halpern from a brilliant tip in shot to get into the lead.
They continued to attack right till the end of the period but the second goal of the period was scored by the Blues who also created several chances for themselves during the period.
The Blues levelled the scores with David Backes scoring from a quick fired shot that found the back of the net. The period ended with the scores level on 1-1.
During the period, the Blues made 13 shots on goal while the Canadiens made 12 shots on goal.
The second period started off with the Blues exploding at the start of the proceedings and they scored in the second minute through Andy McDonald from a flick shot to get into the lead.
They kept on piling the pressure on the opposing defence but couldn’t score.
The period saw the Canadiens also coming across some scoring chances but they couldn’t score as the period ended with the Blues leading 2-1. During the period the Blues made 8 shots on goal while the Canadiens made 6 shots on goal.
The final 20 minutes of play saw both teams making a defensive start. However, things heated up as the period neared its end.
Blues managed to double their lead with another goal in the 19th minute through Matt D’Agostini from a simple tip in shot.
The Blues sealed the game with another goal in the final minute which was scored by TJ O’Shie from a well placed flick shot. The game ended with the Blues winning 4-1 in the end.
