St. Louis Blues wins 4-0 against Edmonton Oilers with a brilliant shutout performance

St. Louis Blues played host to Edmonton Oilers at the Scottrade Arena this Thursday, a game which Blues won, 4-0, in the end.
Both teams are pretty much out of the playoff’s picture but a win for either of them would be more of a confidence booster rather than anything else.
Both teams made a decent start to the game but with the passage of time, shots increased. No goals were scored as the period ended with the scores level.
The second period saw both teams battling out hard but it was Blues who scored the lone goal of the second period.
The final period saw Blues very strong on attacks and successfully scored thrice in the final period to win the game 4-0 in the end.
TJ Oshie was the star of the game as he scored a goal and came up with an important assist.
There weren’t many shots on goal at the start of the game but with the passage of time things got better. The shots and the play-making of both the teams were better in the second half of the period and it looked as if a goal would most definitely be scored.
However, despite some strong shots on goal, neither of the teams was able to find the back of the net and the period ended with both teams level on 0-0. During the period, Blues made 9 shots on goal while Oilers made 5 shots on goal.
The second period kicked off with both teams coming up with some decent plays and it looked as if they would score. However, this didn’t happen at the start of the period. With the passage of time both teams created several chances for themselves.
Blues managed to score in the 19th minute through TJ Oshie’s well placed flick shot to get into the lead. The period ended with Blues leading 1-0.
During the course of period, Blues made 7 shots on goal while Oilers made five shots on goal.
The final period was dominated by Blues as they scored in the third minute through Matt D’Agostini to double their lead. The period saw Blues continuing to pile pressure and scoring once again in the 9th minute through Chris Stewart’s decent strike.
Blues, with their strong offensive play, scored once again in the 16th minute through Adam Cracknell’s well placed shot to seal the game.
In the end, Blues won the game by 4-0.
During the period, Blues made 14 shots on goal while Oilers made just two shots on goal.
