St. Louis Blues wins 4-0 against Los Angeles Kings at Kings' home ice with a brilliant shutout performance
Another one of the important games on Thursday was played at the Staples Center as Los Angeles Kings played host to St. Louis Blues.
The game was crucial for Kings as they are part of the mid-table brawl which has quite a few teams contesting for the playoff spots in the Western Conference.
The game started off in a decent manner for both teams with Blues scoring later in the period to get into the lead. Both teams came up with a few more shots on goal but they couldn’t find the back of the net.
The second period was again a very close battle between the two teams but it was Blues who scored the lone goal in the final minute to double the lead.
The final period saw Blues scoring twice to win the game by 4-0 in the end.
Matt D’Agostini was named the star of the game as he scored twice during the course of the game.
Blues dominated the game right from the start as they fired shots on goal every now and then. Not only this, but they were able to come up with a very strong defence which enabled them to restrict the opposition to very few shots on goal during the period.
With the passage of time the attacks made by Blues intensified and it looked as if they would score. It took some time but they finally managed to score in the 17th minute through Matt D’Agostini’s brilliant flick shot.
The period saw Blues continuing with the dominating offensive display but they weren’t able to find the back of the net.
The period ended with Blues leading 1-0 as they made 13 goal attempts during the period while Kings came up with just two shots on goal.
The second period was a reflection of the first period where Blues dominated the game with their delightful passing and shooting. Not only this, but their defence was again superb from the start of the period till the very end.
However, Blues’ defence was even better in the second period and they managed to score in the final minute to double their lead.
The goal was scored by Matt D’Agostini’s decent strike. The second period ended with Blues leading 2-0. During the period, Blues made 17 shots on goal while Kings made just four shots on goal.
The final period saw both teams pretty much equal in terms of shots but it was Blues who scored in the sixth minute through Alex Pietrangelo from a powerful strike and then through TJ Oshie’s brilliant backhand shot to win the game by 4-0 in the end.
The period and the game ended with Blues winning the game by 4-0 as they made 9 shots on goal during the period while Kings could manage 11 shots but no goals.
