St. Louis Cardinals' Carlos Beltran struggled all-season long to get his rhythm back – MLB Update
St. Louis Cardinals' right fielder Carlos Beltran is going through a tough period at the moment. He could not show his famous offensive plays during the entire regular season. He even failed to perform in this year’s playoffs which not only placed him in a bad position but it has also increased some speculations of his future.
“There are a lot of players who don't make it to the World Series, Don't feel sorry for me. I was trying the best I could to get there and it just didn't happen," Beltran said as he explained about his displeasure regarding not being able to play in the World Series.
Recently some reporters have speculated in the media that Cardinals’ are in serious trouble regarding some of their senior players. While as soon as this speculation came out in the media, many experts started to relate this story with Carlos Beltran who did not show any impressive performance this season.
"I'm not going to lie to you — it definitely adds a little pizzazz to what you think about yourself, It's what you play for. For me it was beyond my wildest conception that it could actually happen. And then it did. And then, my goodness, we just won the World Series. … Clearly, as we proved this year, it's not that easy," said Lance Berkman regarding Beltran and his game.
Beltran finished 2012 Major League Baseball campaign achieving .269 hitting average along with 32 homers, 97 RBIs and .346 OBP. Though comparatively this performance is acceptable but the fans and the Cardinals’ management is upset due to his performance in the post-season.
Despite knowing how much the Cardinals rely on him, he could not pick his rhythm and proved literally disastrous for his team.
Overall, when somebody looks at his career hitting of .282, 334 home-runs, 1243 RBIs and .360 OBP, that particular individual certainly appreciates his contribution and regards his calibre.
However, the way Beltran played in the National League Championship Series against the San Francisco Giants; he undoubtedly let down many of his fans as well as the Cardinals’ entire roster.
