St. Louis Cardinals' Edwin Jackson to start against the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 2 – MLB Playoffs
The St. Louis Cardinals’ Edwin Jackson has got his name listed to start Monday’s Game 2 against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers are leading the best-of-seven American League Championship Series 1-0.
However, much as the unexpected result of Sunday’s game was, whereby the Cardinals lost the game by 6-9, the team has never ceased to make a comeback almost from the brink. The biggest evidence was the elimination of the menacing Philadelphia Phillies.
Bringing Jackson back and to get the game started by him is part of the Cardinals strategy to reverse the early setback. Edwin Jackson played the most crucial part in the playoffs against the Phillies to help win the game 5-3, enabling the team to take the
series into the fifth.
"If we get our big guys going, it's just as tough for their pitchers," Jackson said. "It's the same for both teams. You know, if you get your guys going, it's no easy task for either team. It's always good to get a win under your belt early. But we have
a lot of baseball left. Both teams know it.”
Jackson has attracted attention from the teams ever since the start of his career. More than six times has the player has been traded for different teams from the time he became part of the Major Leagues in 2003. From Los Angeles Dodgers to Chicago White
Sox, he got traded for the Cardinals in July after the Toronto Blue Jays also set their eyes on him.
The playoffs are indeed a big event for any baseball pro. Jackson, 28, has made his way into the NLCS with glaring success.
"In this game you really don't know what's going to happen," the right-hander said.
With the Cardinals down 1-0 in the series after losing to the Brewers, the team will certainly look to Edwin Jackson to deliver them at this juncture. The Cardinals will be looking to put in a good performance and dominate early in the game to level the
series.
