St. Louis Cardinals' manager hopeful for a better outcome in decisive NLCS Game 7 – NLCS News
Even though the St. Louis Cardinals could not make use of the 3-1 lead they had in the National League Championship Series as the San Francisco Giants staged a comeback, levelling the series 3-3 apiece, manager Mike Matheny voiced his confidence in his team on Sunday, October 21.
The Cardinals were defeated by 1-6 in Sunday’s Game 6 wherein the impressive defensive and offensive combination of the Giants put the Redbirds in a tough position. On Monday, in Game 7, the Cards will either prevail over the Giants to eliminate them from the season or be eliminated themselves.
Be that as it may, Mike Matheny was imbuing with confidence, saying the team will revert.
He said, "We've had a number of losses this season that felt like we've been kicked in the gut as we're walking off the field. And what I have admired about this club is they show up tomorrow the exact same guys that they showed up here today."
Mike Matheny hopes it is Monday when the Cardinals will do what they had done the previous season. They did it against both the Milwaukee Brewers and the Texas Rangers to eventually win the World Series.
As they are defending the World Series championship, Cardinals hope things will be put in order like they have always been.
"We've had some games where we stack on runs and then we go absolutely hitless almost, for a while, or anything of impact," Matheny said. "But at any day we know that our offense can pull out quite a bit of production. Hopefully it's (Monday)."
All said, the Cardinals will obviously face a tough challenge by the Giants that had recently exhibited their superiority as a resilient defensive and offensive side. Even though they were initially down 3-1 in the best-of-seven game series, they have shown marvellous resurgence to level the series.
With bated breath, both the Cardinals and the Giants' fans will watch the expectedly sensational Game 7 of the National League Championship Series. Cardinals, like the manager Mike Matheny hopes, will try to once again show their dominance with a victory here.
