St. Louis Cardinals Adam Wainwright goes for a throwing session
The St. Louis Cardinals brought forth their Minor Leaguers on Monday, April 02, to face Adam Wainwright. The pitcher who had a season-ending injury the past season with the Tommy John surgery had a strong throwing session to prove his fitness and readiness for the 2012 season.
The team had no Grapefruit League game to play this week, relying on the improvisation of recruiting the Minor Leaguers. The batting practice session has established that the player is fit enough to go for his first game in the new season scheduled against the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday.
"It's probably a good tool to have right before you leave," Wainwright said of the structured outing. "You only go out there and focus on what you can do. You don't worry about where the fielders are or anything. It's just executing pitches, and that's the name of the game."
For now what is important for the pitcher is to regain the momentum that fell victim to the injury in 2011. From the session that he had on Monday, it was clear that he had been able to refocus on the adjustments.
However, he does not want to become complacent and lose the focus at this point in time.
"I'm probably better for going through that last game because I was able to refocus on a couple adjustments and really work and learn my delivery," Wainwright said. "I think sometimes when it's going real well, you can get complacent and lose that focus.”
With Chris Carpenter gone, Adam Wainwright will virtually be the backbone of the team’s rotation at this juncture. It will take Carpenter time to return with the stiff neck that he earlier had.
Endowed with potential, force and energy to come down hard on the hitters, Adam Wainwright will be a treat to watch in the new season. Over the years, he has attained commanding heights, something that is in sync with what he is capable of doing.
Provided he retains his fitness this time, Adam Wainwright will be a nightmare for the rival teams in the league, helping the team to defend their World Series title.
