St. Louis Cardinals’ Allen Craig's injury subsiding – MLB News
The St. Louis Cardinals’ outfielder Allen Craig commented on Sunday, March 11, that he has had no problem in hitting and feeling good. The outfielder is in rehabilitation process after the knee surgery that he recently had.
"I'm feeling good," he said. "I have been ramping it up in the cage, and there have been no problems hitting at all."
However, much as he is ready to start swinging the bat, there are difficulties that need to be overcome. The fact stands that he might not be able to play the first month of the regular season. The fractured right kneecap that hit the player November last
year has been an insurmountable challenge for him so far.
Be that as it may, the player shows increasing positivity and optimism, saying he is making progress.
"[I'm] just working things in slowly, but it's progressing," he said. "There are still a few things that are challenging for me, but for the most part I feel good. There are just little movements I have to work on with the strength. But it's nothing alarming."
The team manager Mike Matheny, on the other hand, also has a dose of optimism to offer, maintaining that the player is getting close to peak fitness now.
"[The medical staff] has been pushing him pretty hard," manager Mike Matheny said. "I know that he's getting closer, and closer is certainly better."
St. Louis Cardinals are currently engaged in the Grapefruit League, bracing themselves for the regular season. The title that they won last year by beating the Texas Rangers was an overwhelming experience for them.
They certainly want to defend the title. To make that possible, the presence of Allen Craig on the field is of crucial importance. However, as the knee issues have had their impact on the player, the Cardinals will anxiously await Craig’s recovery.
That will indeed change a lot of things once it happens. With the defence ever stronger for the club, Craig’s presence in offence will be a key factor to bring in the desired results as far as having a successful season is concerned.
