St. Louis Cardinals’ Allen Craig hopes to make it into Opening Day – MLB News
The St. Louis Cardinals’ outfielder Allen Craig expressed his hope on Monday, February 6, that he will be able to make it to Opening Day. His knee injury in the past season has occasionally caused trouble for him.
However, with Spring Training around the corner followed by the commencement of the regular season, the Cardinals’ players are in good shape. Most have recovered from their injuries that can be potentially worrying for them.
Allen Craig, as he put it on Monday, is sure about Opening Day with the ongoing rehab that he had. While nothing can be stated for certain about the future, he expressed that he was feeling good at this point in time.
"Obviously, time tables are tough because you don't know what's going to happen in the future," said Craig, who has recently moved his rehab work to Florida. "I'm just taking it one day at a time, but I am kind of surprised with how good I feel at this point.
Whether that means I'm going to for sure be there for Opening Day, I don't know. But I think there's a good chance."
Craig is one of the outfielders of the St. Louis Cardinals that holds the key for the team’s success. The Cardinals had recently added Carlos Beltran in the side which was interpreted as a significant move, promising something good for the team coupled with
Jon Jay.
Allen appeared in a total of 75 games during the regular season in the past year, maintaining a decent average of .315 with 200 at-bats, scoring a total of 40 RBIs and 11 home-runs. He had a slugging percentage of .555.
On the other hand, when it came to the postseason games, the player had his presence in 11 of the games, having a .243 average with eight RBIs to his credit, scoring nine runs with a slugging percentage of .622.
With a number of good outfielders available at the disposal of the St. Louis Cardinals, it goes without saying that the team is poised to overpower any rival in the upcoming 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
