St. Louis Cardinals’ Carlos Beltran recovering from shoulder tightness – MLB News
The St. Louis Cardinals’ outfielder Carlos Beltran commented on Monday, March 12, that he is trying to go ahead and will remain cautious as he battles the tightness in his right shoulder that will take time to disappear.
"I'm just trying to be cautious," Beltran said. "There is going to be a point in Spring Training when I have to take the field. I just have to make sure that when I'm in there, I'm ready to go. Every spring you go through stretches where your shoulder gets
tired, or your forearm or your bicep.”
For now he is playing as the designated hitter for the team. He has carefully avoided showing up in the outfield, knowing the risks involved in it under this set of circumstances. That he intends to shun risk at this point in time shows that the player wants
a smooth progression until the season formally starts.
Getting to Spring Training and going for being a designated hitter is the part of meticulous strategy. This shall ensure avoiding an unforeseen trouble as the shoulder tightness abates.
Despite whatever the physical pressure right now, Beltran thinks it is not a big deal. “When I started putting a little bit more pressure on the shoulder, it just kind of got tired. But it's not a big deal. Right now, everything looks fast for me. The game
looks real fast.”
On Tuesday the Cardinals will have their game in the Grapefruit League against the New York Mets; the team that actually previously had Beltran. He will obviously be looking forward to it as much as he has his eyes set on the upcoming regular season.
When the season starts, the Cardinals will enter as the defending World Series Champions. Each player, thus, will have a key role to play in helping the team successfully defend the title. Carlos Beltran is one of them coming with exceptional power as a
hitter. It has to be seen if he is completely fit prior to the initiation of the season from next month. The Cardinals will be hoping that Beltran recovers from his shoulder issues as they are looking at him to make a positive impact for them during the regular
season.
