St. Louis Cardinals’ David Freese looks to accomplish more – MLB News
With the Spring Training in full swing, the St. Louis Cardinals’ third baseman David Freese stated on Monday, February 27, that while never forgetting 2011, he is looking to accomplishing more. The Cardinals had snatched the 2011 World Series title after
beating the Texas Rangers.
For anyone who had avidly followed the eventful year and especially the energy-elevating and spirit-infusing best-of-seven series finals, David Freese had the paramount role to play to bring victory for the Cardinals.
"I think you have to understand and never forget that something special did occur," Freese said. "Never forget 2011, but always look to accomplish more."
Such was his performance that he left many fans and critics flabbergasted. While he had shown his talent throughout the regular season, it was in the playoffs that he emerged as a shining star.
Playing a total of 18 postseason games, Freese had a marvellous average of .397 whereby he had the historical record of 21 runs. That was huge; given no other player had done in the Major League previously.
That did not go unacknowledged. David Freese quickly rose to win Most Valuable Player Awards for both National League Championship Series and World Series, thanks to his incredibly amazing performance to bestow victory on the St. Louis Cardinals.
"It came hard. It came fast. It came right away," Freese said. "But with all the stuff that I did -- the great things I got to experience -- that was all on me. I wanted to do that stuff. Let's be honest, I'm never going to be able to do that again."
He has not run out of endeavours, yet. The young player indeed has a long way to go with the skills and power in his possession. Given the fact that Albert Pujols is no longer part of the team, Freese has additional responsibilities to shoulder.
If the recent history is anything to go by, David Freese seems equipped and all fit to outperform any rival to bring sensational wins for the Cardinals the way he majestically did in the past season.
