St. Louis Cardinals’ David Freese named NLCS Most Valued Player – MLB Playoffs
The St. Louis Cardinals’ third baseman David Freese has been named the National League Championship Series Most Valued Player after an impressive performance, helping the team qualify for the World Series. In Game 6 of the NLCS where the team won by 12-6,
Freese had three invaluable hits to put the team on the winning track.
In the presence of big stars that dot the St. Louis Cardinals, he ended the series with 12-for-22 (.545) that included but was not limited to three homers as well. Seven runs scored, he had three doubles and nine RBIs that proved the source of strength and
ultimate victory for the Cardinals.
The fact that he is performing with breathtaking brilliance in the very presence of stars like Lance Berkman, Matt Holliday and Albert Pujols is another testimony of what he really stands for. From the beginning of his career, he was described as a potential
star.
"He's a very tough individual. He's had bad breaks with his ankle [in 2010] and his hand. This guy has got great insides, and it matches his talents. This guy is going to be a star. If he can stay healthy, he's going to be a star, year-in, year-out. A clutch
star."
The 28-year old Cardinals third baseman had raised some serious questions over his ability to play after he ended up hurting himself in the regular season. It was his broken bone that rendered him unable to represent his team for considerably long period
of time.
After returning from that fateful time period, he went for an impressive hit .276 with eight homers, 41 RBIs and a .335 on-base percentage.
As he is raising himself to the expectations of his fans and critics alike, Lance Berkman has words of praise for him.
"We all knew that he was that kind of player," Berkman said. "Now he's doing it on a national stage. He's a great player."
With the ever improving performance of this key Cardinals player, it will be interesting to see how he repeats his tremendous performance in the World Series.
