St. Louis Cardinals’ David Freese overjoyed after winning Game 1 – MLB Update
St. Louis Cardinals’ Most Valuable Player in the National League Championship Series and third baseman David Freese continued with his brilliant form and scored the winning run for his team in Game 1 of the World Series against Texas Rangers on Wednesday, October 19 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri to take a crucial lead at home in the seven-game fiesta.
Freese, a native of St. Louis, expressed immense joy on being named MVP of a team he has grown-up with. Not many players have achieved this feat in the Majors and Freese remained adamant of making full use of this opportunity and guide his team to the title.
This game brought more joy for Freese, who made a franchise record in postseason by extending his hitting streak to 11 games now. The MVP stressed that with all the records flowing in for him and home-advantage in World Series, everything seems a bit unrealistic.
Showing contentment on being a part of this team, Freese said, “I've made sure coming into this that we get out on that field that it's just another ballgame, and I think that's definitely helped me. Watching these veterans, how focused they are and how much they just kind of demand perfection out of themselves, that's what I try and do and just stay focused the entire game and see how it plays out.”
Freese added that playing against a team like Texas, who are making their second consecutive appearance in the World Series, it was really important to get off to a start like this. He was quick to add that nothing significant has been achieved yet and the competition has just begun. Freese pointed out that the team needs to win at least three more games before it can officially burst into joy.
The Cardinals will be at an advantage as long as the National League-style of play is applicable. Before the series shift to Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, the Cardinals have one more game to play at home. If the Cardinals come through clean, they will have a chance to bring the series back to Busch Stadium.
