St. Louis Cardinals’ Jaime Garcia to start Game 6 of the World Series – MLB World Series Update
Jaime Garcia has been slated to start Game 6 for the St. Louis Cardinals, scheduled to be played on Wednesday, October 26.
The decision was pretty much expected, but who will pitch for Game 7 in case the Cardinals win Game 6, is something that is best left to speculation.
Garcia had pitched remarkably well, almost leading the team to glorious win in Game 2 of the World Series. However, that did not transpire eventually. He pitched a total of seven shut-out innings before the ninth inning rally by Josh Hamilton and Michael
Young shattered the dreams of the Cardinals, bringing a 2-1 victory for the Texas Rangers.
Jaime Garcia has a 3.97 ERA in October, whereby he won a game against the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series on October 14 with a decisive 7-1 score. Other than that, two of his games have been losses, one by 1-2 and the other by
6-9.
"I just think our attitude is really consistent," La Russa said. "It's about today, and you have to get somebody ready for 6, and that's Jaime. Then stop and see where we are at that point."
While Garcia is all set to charge the defence, what remains to be seen is the ability of the offence executes their task. If Garcia manages to overwhelm the Texas Rangers’ offence and if something unexpected does not happen due to a mistake by the relief
pitchers, all eyes will then be set on Game 7 of the World Series.
Who will pitch in Game 7 is a question that is open to speculation. Chris Carpenter has already pitched and Garcia will have pitched in Game 6. Edwin Jackson has no likelihood to appear nor does Lance Lynn.
Therefore, as is expected, it is Kyle Lohse who may be given the ball in Game 7 of the World Series provided the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Rangers in Game 6. With much to be desired, the Cardinals have all their hopes riding on Garcia to do the extraordinary
and win the coveted World Series title.
