St. Louis Cardinals’ Kyle Lohse feels confident – MLB News
The St. Louis Cardinals’ starter Kyle Lohse on Monday, March 5, stated that he is feeling good and confident, as he had another strong pitching display in the Grapefruit League. The player who has the history of injuries in the past has come down hard on
the rival hitters this year, demonstrating the level of fitness.
"It feels good," Lohse said. "Last year at this time I feel about the same as I do now, but you still have the issues where I didn't know how long that would last. Right now, I have all the confidence in the world that my arm is going to hold up. I can go
out there and have that peace of mind that I can do my work and not have to worry about any flair-ups."
That is where Lohse stands distinguished among the contemporary starters is the constant and effective use of curveballs. The curveball, which he has improvised, will be a weapon that he will unleash this season with ever more efficacy. "As you get older,"
he joked, "you have to find new tricks."
The past season saw this proficient pitcher take 14 wins. The wonderful ERA of 3.39 made him the leading game winner among the team’s pitching staff. However, his achievement might have gone a little unnoticed due to the presence of some big names in the
team.
No matter how big the list of veterans among the Redbirds, pitching with power and effectiveness, Lohse remains an indispensable part of the ever strengthening Cardinals’ defence.
The pitcher had 30 starts the past season, with 111 strike-outs to his credit. Having made his debut back in 2001, the player has so far won 102 victories in 322 games he played throughout his career. Lohse maintained a 4.64 ERA, having had 1.40 with 1095
strike-outs to his credit.
With a record that reads impressively on this accomplished veteran, it remains to be seen how good the new season goes for him. At a time when the Redbirds are defending their title, his contribution will be key for their ultimate success. Lohse will be
looking to put in a tremendous performance during the ongoing Spring Training session.
