St. Louis Cardinals’ Lance Lynn ready to strike in Game 5 of NLCS – NLCS Update
St. Louis Cardinals secured a much-needed 3-1 lead in the National League Championship Series on Thursday, October 18, beating the San Francisco Giants 8-3. A game away from making it to the World Series, Lance Lynn has an opportunity to realise the Cardinals dream by winning a victory in Game 5 on Friday.
It was Adam Wainwright who clicked in Game 4, pitching phenomenally effectively – allowing only a run in the seven innings that he tossed. Wainwright who had Tommy John surgery the past year and missed the whole season, was majestically impressive in Game 4.
Since rotation was struggling a great deal in the post-season, Wainwright’s outing on Thursday apparently has reset everything for the Cardinals. Lance Lynn will have a gigantic task here to not only continue that, but also try to secure a win for the Cardinals, which will be hoping to book their spot in the World Series.
Lynn is ready for the challenge. Even though he struggled massively in Game 1, wherein he could only throw 3.2 innings, allowing four runs and five hits before being replaced by Joe Kelly, Game 5 could alter the whole outlook of the post-season for him.
Lance Lynn is confident and has all the preparedness to go for it.
"Whenever you get the opportunity to pitch, you enjoy it, no matter what the situation is or what you're doing," Lynn said. "We're in the playoffs. It doesn't matter when you pitch or where you'll pitch, as long as they feel that you can get the job done and they call your name. It's enjoyable, no matter what the situation or the time of it."
Lynn remained impressive in the regular season, having held 3.78 ERA in the 35 games that he played with 29 starts and an 18-7 record.
With the celebrations witnessed after Game 4, which has given the Cardinals a 3-1 lead, the Redbirds’ fans are eagerly awaiting to see the culminations of those celebrations with the bigger glory here in the form of a solid win.
Defending the World Series title, Cards have a very good opportunity to make history with a win in Game 5, to clinch the NLCS title and make it to the World Series.
