St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina suffers bruised left hand – MLB News
The St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina might not play for next couple of games due to bruised left hand which he suffered on Tuesday playing against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
"Every time that happens to a catcher it's scary, not fun," Molina said afterward.
Though no official statement was issued on his non availability for next games, but the team management did state in the media that his hand has just bruised not broken.
Initially some reporters speculated in the media that his hand has broken as he will not be available for months, but later it was clarified as he just bruised the hand which is also not that serious.
The Cardinals manager Mike Matheny later also told the media as Molina’s X-ray is fine and nothing damaged has done regarding any internal bone.
Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said, "He's going to be sore, He'll probably have to get a couple more looks at it. We'll just wait and see what their doctor says. I was very concerned, It was good news we didn't see a break. We're just going to see how he
keeps responding to treatment. I think we'll just wait until Friday and see what we have to deal with, Everything is going in a positive direction. But it's like with Yadi: I think he's going to be ready by Friday, they start thinking.”
Molina is talented player and playing with Cardinals’ since the start of his Major League Baseball career in 2004. During his presence behind the plate, the Cardinals have won two World Series titles.
Not only his team has been getting many benefits from his presence, but during his eight years of stay in the Cardinals, his own performance remained consistent throughout those years with a hefty career hitting average of .274 with 59 homers, 406 RBIs and
.331.
Before getting injured, Molina was performing with a hitting average of .302 along with four home runs, 16 RBIs and .353 OBP.
In the meanwhile, though this a healthy sign for the Cardinals as their player is not hurt with any serious injury, but still his absence from couple of games can bring slight uncertainty in the team.
