St. Louis Cardinals compelled to play Game 6 of NLCS at AT&T Park - MLB Update
St. Louis Cardinals will be under extreme pressure as they battle the San Francisco Giants on Sunday at AT&T Park in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series.
They struggled to wrap up the series in Game 5 as the Giants pounded them 5-0.
Giants have earned the reputation of coming from behind and running away with the series victories in the season.
Against the Cincinnati Reds, they were two down before they went on to clinch three wins in a row and qualify for the NLCS.
Against this backdrop, the St. Louis Cardinals will be mindful of their fighting spirit and how they can pull off wins at any time during the matches.
They will be wary of the likes of Buster Posey and the Giants' starter Ryan Vogelsong.
Posey hit a grand slam in Game 5 of the NLDS against the Reds and led his team to victory in the decisive contest.
Coming off of such a mammoth hit from his flair at a crucial juncture of the match was amazing to watch for the fans.
He will be among the most dangerous players that the Cardinals will be working out at and trying to stop.
Similarly, Vogelsong is capable of stunning even the most formidable offence of any team by completing a solid spell of innings.
The Cardinals will be hoping that they win the next match and do not let the outcome of the series to be decided in the last game.
Cardinals’ starter, Chris Carpenter is aware of the importance of winning the Game 6 on Sunday.
''No question, we want to win it as soon as we can. We wanted to do it last night,'' Carpenter said. ''But, again, we have to get one win before they get two. We'll do whatever we can. If it's not tomorrow night we'll come in and do it again.''
Third baseman for the Cardinals, David Freese has discussed the way the Giants have played throughout the season and how they can be a tough opposition.
''They've been doing this all year. Obviously, the Cincinnati series, here come the Giants,'' David Freese said. ''It's good for TV but it's disappointing in (our) sense.''
It will be interesting to see which team qualifies for the World Series at the conclusion of their NLCS.
