St. Louis Cardinals crush San Diego Padres 6-3 – MLB Recap
The St. Louis Cardinals crushed the San Diego Padres 6-3 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, May 23 at Busch Stadium, St. Louis in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Taking away the series in style, the Cardinals proved the best team in Missouri. They never allowed the Padres to take control of the game at any stage and slowly and steadily pushed them towards bitter humiliation of 3-0 series hammering.
Right fielder Carlos Beltran hit his 14th homer as Cardinals rattled their opponents with six runs on the board.
"You can't expect that to happen every week, you know, I just hope that I can go out there and feel good at the plate and be able to contribute. Being able to hit home runs like that, it happens once or twice in a season." Beltran said with confidence about
the game his team won with pretty ease.
Starter Lance Lynn also played a handy role for the Cardinals as he stood tall against the offensive batting lineup of Padres. He held them with only eight hits, three runs and three earned runs.
"When you give it up, you can't keep giving it up or it's going to be a long night, You don't have to change your approach, you just have to grind more, concentrate more, dig deep and make a pitch when it matters. We've got seven wins when I'm pitching,
that’s all that matters." Lynn said as his team gave enormous confidence to start this particular game.
Despite the offensive batting lineup of Padres, it was the Cardinals pitching ferociousness that they could not do much. They were virtually handcuffed by Lance and relievers Victor Marte, Marc Rzepczynski and Jason Motte.
Though it was witnessed by many when the Padres led the Cardinals early in the first inning with three runs, but soon their offence turned into defensive approach of play and which cost them heavily in the end as they could not stop their opponents, who
took the game away in style.
In the meanwhile, this win now placed the Cardinals in quite comfortable position in National League with 25-19 win loss record.
