St. Louis Cardinals favoured to prevail against Milwaukee Brewers in NLCS Game 6 – MLB Update
The St. Louis Cardinals are favoured to prevail in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series scheduled for Sunday, October 16 and thus qualify for the World Series to face it off with American League Champions Texas Rangers.
However, with the series shifting back to Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the last two games, the Brewers cannot be ruled out of the series this early. The Cardinals have a 3-2 lead in the series thus far and it will take a lot of commitment and
hard-work from the Brewers to topple the Wild Card entrants.
Vying for the pennant, the Cardinals will go with Edwin Jackson on the mound in a bid to seal the series as early as Sunday. With survival the primary aim for Milwaukee, starter Shaun Marcum aims at going all-out to try and give the ball to ace Yovani Gallardo
in Game 7.
Talking to reporters on the eve of the game, Marcum was of the view that people would love to see aces of both teams fighting it out for the pennant. Chris Carpenter edged past Roy Halladay in the NL Division Series eliminator and Gallardo, in comparison,
will not be a tough opposition if the need arises.
"I think I'm on the bandwagon with everybody in here, probably everybody in the country that wants to see Yo versus Carp in Game 7," Marcum said. "I'm going to try to get the ball to Yo."
The retractable roof at Miller Park will be closed for game 6, as it was against the Arizona Diamondbacks in NLDS. The Brewers went on to win all three games in these conditions. However, the roof remained open in the first two games of the NLCS and the
Cardinals succeeded in splitting the games.
Cardinals’ shortstop Rafael Furcal remained aloof from criticising the move and instead commented that it will definitely be a noisy game, irrespective of the roof being open or closed. Furcal further added that the team will take this as a regular game
and conditions do not matter at this stage of the season.
Milwaukee’s manager Ron Roenicke commented that the team has played well under pressure and there is certainly a lot of pressure at this stage. It will be interesting to see how the Brewers approach this challenge.
