St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Lance Berkman goes on to DL – MLB News
Reports are coming that the St. Louis Cardinals’ first baseman Lance Berkman has been put on to the 15-day disabled list due to his knee injury.
This is now puts the very position of Cardinals in danger who are playing well in this Major League Baseball season. His injury and being put on to the disabled list means that the Cardinals will miss his presence almost in their next three series.
Team manager Mike Matheny is still not confirmed that who will play a permanent replacement role Berkman however, the Cardinals’ top management has brought in Minor League first baseman Matt Adams from their farm system Triple-A Memphis.
Manager Mike Matheny said, “We saw that it wasn’t going in a good direction, so we just hope for the best with the results that we get, Going into the season, we looked at some guys that we had to be careful with.”
Berkman also said, “First, I have to figure out what’s wrong, And then once I figure out what the injury is, then they’re going to have to tell me what to do. I’d like to reserve judgment until I get the results of the MRI back. If I was one or two years into my career, it might be a little more nerve-racking.”
Berkman’s potential replacement Adams is a talented baseball player. He is coming with healthy.340 hitting with nine homers and 27 RBIs in 37 games at Memphis and considered one of the key players who made Memphis a power hub. Adams Minor League team in his presence has produced number of good results and will see their groomed player in the Major Leagues.
Berkman, who is highly talented, has also played for the Houston Astros and New York Yankees in the past, but since he arrived in the Cardinals roster, his performances have been quite consistent.
Before going on to DL, he was carrying .333 hitting and .429 on base percentage while his career hitting average of .296 along with 359 homers and 1197 RBIs and .409 OBP also makes him a good role player.
