St. Louis Cardinals get 'Organization of the Year' Award for 2011 – MLB News
The St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, December 16, was named the Organization of the Year by Baseball America. Another glory to add to the already exciting and rejuvenating year, the Cardinals rightly became the Organization of the Year for winning the 11th
World Series title this year.
While the club has all the reasons to be jubilant for back-to-back awards with their record this year, the Cardinals received Baseball America’s Organization of the Year Award for the first time ever since BA came into being in 1982.
Among other things, only after winning the World Series did the Cardinals also have all the attention focused on them as the Minor League also put a wonderful show lately.
The St. Louis organisation was also entitled to winning Minor League Championships at Class-A Quad Cities and rookie-league Johnson City, something that the team deserved.
A quick look at the Minor League brings to fore the stunning performance the St. Louis Cardinals’ Minor League team has made, indeed taking a cue from the Major League team which had remained almost invincible this year once they entered into the playoffs.
Like the wonderful pitchers and hitters that the Major League team was provided with, the Cardinals’ Minor League team put equally strong show with perseverance that warrants admiration and all the commendation.
Matt Adams, for example, won the Texas League Player of the Year Award. Along with Shelby Miller, Adams also won the Cardinals’ Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Year, an achievement the team will take huge pride in.
Like the team and the management of the St. Louis Cardinals, the fans were immensely excited as well. The fans were all praise for the organisation with a fan asserting, “This organization has always been the greatest. In 1964 at the age of 11, I became
a Cardinal fan.”
With the recognition that the St. Louis Cardinals have deservingly got this year for their outstanding feats, it will be interesting to see how they maintain their winning ways going into the next season, with enormous expectations pinned on them.
