The St. Louis Cardinals hammered the Chicago Cubs 10-6 in the fourth and final game of their four-match regular series encounter on July 14 at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
Cardinals played as one unit and rattled the Cubs’ entire roster with big force. They dominated throughout the game and won with quite ease.
“We never give up, Whatever happens in the game or the inning before we're going to come after you," Molina said.
Cardinals’ batters and pitchers played beautifully and allowed no big loop holes. They all remained calm during the entire game and won with style.
"Obviously we lost, but I mean we showed a lot of fight, We showed maybe what kind of character we have in those kind of games," Barney said.
First baseman Allen Craig scored two runs on four hits. He ran for one RBI on his five at bats while he remained consistent on his .494 slugging percentage.
"I can't express how proud I am the way these guys play the game, It was a very fitting way to end before the break," manager Mike Matheny said.
Right fielder Carlos Beltran also played well on the plate as he scored two runs on two hits. He showed total confidence on the plate on his six at bats while he remained consistent on his .533 slugging percentage.
“What can you say? He gets the big hits when he needs to and he calls great games," Wainwright said.
Third baseman David Freese scored two runs on two hits. He played well on his six at bats as he also ran for one RBI on his .383 slugging percentage.
Along with batters, the Cardinals pitchers also performed wonderfully and showed total commitment on the mound. They pitched well and won the game for their team.
Starting pitcher Adam Wainwright pitched six innings and allowed four runs on eight hits. He allowed four earned runs and struck out four Cubs’ batters.
Relief pitcher Trevor Rosenthal pitched 1.1 innings and allowed two runs on two hits. He struck out three while he remained confident on his 2.20 ERA.
