St. Louis Cardinals hammer Los Angeles Angels 12-2 – MLB News
St. Louis Cardinals hammered Los Angeles Angels 12-2 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on July 03 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.
The Cardinals played as one unit and eventually won the game with quite ease. Their batters and pitchers played wonderfully throughout the game and showed great determination against the Angels’ entire roster.
"Matt Carpenter sets the tone for us, and he had a terrific game, He put together good at-bats and he doesn't give any away. It was also nice to see John Jay have some real nice at-bats. We need to get him going, and today was
a real good indicator that he's on the right path. He's been making some adjustments that are allowing him to have good at-bats, and it worked out for him today," manager Mike Matheny appreciated Matt Carpenter’s tremendous contribution as he said in detail
after the game.
Especially batters played terrifically and helped the Cardinals win with style. Second baseman Matt Carpenter scored three runs on three hits. He ran for three RBIs on his six at bats. He hit hard and maintained his .495 slugging
percentage.
"I wouldn't say I was any fresher tonight. I mean, I threw 51 pitches in the second inning at Oakland,” Miller said.
Centre fielder Jon Jay also played well on the plate and helped the Cardinals win an important game of the series. He scored one run on two hits while he added three RBIs on his six at bats. He showed total confidence on the plate
as he remained consistent on his fine slugging percentage of .338.
Catcher Yadier Molina scored one run on three hits. He ran for one RBI on his four at bats while he hit hard on his slugging percentage of .500.
Along with batters, the St. Louis Cardinals pitchers also performed wonderfully and helped their team win the game. Starting pitcher Shelby Miller pitched six innings and allowed two runs on five hits. He also allowed two earned
runs along with one homer while he struck out six Angels batters on his 2.80 ERA.
