St. Louis Cardinals lose to Atlanta Braves 1-4 – MLB Recap
St. Louis Cardinals defeated by the Atlanta Braves 1-4 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on July 26 at Turner Field in Atlanta.
The Braves played wonderfully and won with style. They showed great temperament during the entire game and hammered the Cardinals with big force.
"That's not really my role. I go out every fifth day and just try to pitch. With Huddy going down, that was our ace. That was our best guy. We just need everybody else to step it up a little bit," Minor said.
Braves’ batters and pitchers played with big heart and edge past the Cardinals with great authority.
"I think I just have to tip my hat, I think they had a great approach from the first pitch of the game on,” Wainwright said.
Right fielder Jason Heyward scored one run on one hit. He ran for one RBI and on his four at bats while he maintained his slugging percentage of .370.
"Let's not get there yet. Mike Minor doesn't have to do anything. He's been this good for a while. We saw him growing up and getting better and better about this time last year,” Gonzalez said after the game.
Catcher Brian McCann also played well and helped his team win an important game of the series. He showed great temperament and maintained his slugging percentage of .527.
Second baseman Dan Uggla scored one run on one hit. He played very well on his three hits. He hit hard and maintained his slugging percentage of .438.
Third baseman Chris Johnson scored one run on two hits. He ran for one RBI and maintained his hitting prowess on his three at bats while he also maintained his slugging percentage of .458.
Starting pitcher Mike Minor pitched seven innings and allowed one run on four hits. He allowed one earned run and remained calm on his ERA at 2.89.
On the other hand, Adam Wainwright disappointed with his pitching. He pitched seven innings and allowed four runs and seven hits. He allowed three earned runs and maintained his 2.51 ERA.
