St. Louis Cardinals lose to Atlanta Braves 5-4 – MLB Recap
The St. Louis Cardinals lost to Atlanta Braves 5-4 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, May 29 at Turner Field, Atlanta in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The series now tied 1-1 with one game to play on Wednesday, May 30.
With this win the Braves on the other hand, ended their eight-game losing streak and now sitting in quite comfort zone where they can start a good beginning into the remaining 2012 season.
The Braves from start to end looked quite confident and never gave any chance to 2011 World Series Champions to take control of the game. Their starting rotation and batting lineup played quite aggressive and eventually led the Braves to a superb win.
Especially second baseman Dan Uggla certainly proved a wining factor for the Braves. He struck a three-run homer in the third inning which kept the Cardinals under pressure until ninth.
"This is not an indication of what's going to happen the next day or the next week or the next month," Uggla said. "But it definitely snaps the feeling of, 'Aww, man, are we ever going to win again?'"
"Everyone knows how bad we've been scuffling," Uggla said with vonfidence about his performance. "When you get that first one, it eases the tension, eases the pressure. We know what it feels like to win again. It was obviously a big night for us."
Though the Cardinals on the other hand, also played well in fourth and later in sixth and seventh inning but the Braves pitchers were too good for them as they defeated them in the end in great style.
The Braves now have a great chance to carry this momentum forward and try to take the series away as well.
They are currently at fourth behind the Miami Marlins in National League East Division with 27-24 win loss record along with .529 winning percentage.
Experts believe that the Braves are doing fine and playing on consistent pace but if they really want to qualify into the post season, they must reach the winning percentage near at .600.
