St. Louis Cardinals lose to Detroit Tigers 1-2 – MLB Recap
Last year’s World Series Champions the St. Louis Cardinals lost to Detroit Tigers 1-2 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Thursday, June 21 at Comerica Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The Cardinals not only lost this particular game but they also lost the series 2-1 with bitter humiliation.
They were only able to win just one game of the series; otherwise it was all Tigers’ show who with precision took the remaining two games and won the series.
Quintin Berry proved one of the winning factors for the Tigers as his tenth inning single to centre gave his team a superb win.
"I've never had a walk-off before, I showed it out there, jumping around, acting crazy. You don't know what to do with yourself. They gave me a good shot, but it's the best feeling you could get, being ripped up a little bit, I'll let them do it every day."
Quinton Berry said in his performance which gave the Tigers a superb win in the decisive game of the series.
Later Detroit manager Jim Leyland said, "He did fine. I will say this: He's much improved, There's no question about that. He's much improved from the last time I saw him,"
The Tigers’ Jacob Turner played brilliant for his team. He started well and pitched five solid innings and allowed only one run. He received four runs and one earned run as his ERA also remained persistent at 1.80.
On the other hand, the Cardinals starter Kyle Lohse despite performing well could not save the game for his team. He pitched seven innings and received only one run. He was hit for four hits and one earned run while his ERA remained at 2.85.
In the meanwhile, the Cardinals with this latest series defeat, now slipped to the third position in the National League Central Division with 35-35 win loss along with .500 winning percentage. The Cardinals will be looking to put in a better performance
and build up some much needed confidence ahead. The Tigers seem to have found some decent form and will be looking to carry their winning momentum forward.
