St. Louis Cardinals manager happy with Daniel Descalso’s defence
The St. Louis Cardinals could not come effectively well to beat the Miami Marlins on Thursday, March 29, they – nonetheless, have a lot of reassuring things to be confident about in the upcoming season.
The club moved on Thursday to involve Daniel Descalso in a midgame defensive switch. The infielder went to have three of the final innings at the first base. This came at a time when he had started the game at second.
The move will have a lot of significance in the days to come for a variety of reasons.
"He does whatever he needs to do," the team manager Mike Matheny said of Descalso. "We made it clear early on that it helps us as a team when we have him there because he can fill so many roles. Right now, I like a lot of what I'm seeing of David defensively."
Part of the reason why Descalso constitutes an important part of the Cardinals is the fact that in his first base appearances, he has always come down hard on the rivals. Almost same was the case on Thursday in the game against the Marlins.
“It was fine," Descalso said. "I guess. I just go where they put me.”
Miami Marlins overwhelmed the Cardinals at the end to defeat them by 3-1. Nonetheless, Descalso will have a lot to offer for the team past this game. From work ethic to the good attitude, to his being a wonderful team player, Descalso deserves to retain
any spot the team decides to place him in.
There are some developments in the recent weeks that can go to both advantage and disadvantage of the team. Allen Craig and Skip Schumaker may well be in the disabled list once the season begins. A disadvantage that the club has to find a solution to.
Nonetheless, Carlos Beltran is all set to charge up the Cardinals offence. With Descalso feeling ever good, it will be advantageous for the Cardinals to endure the brief scare that has come in the wake of the aforementioned players. It will have to be seen
how Descalso proves his instrumentality.
