St. Louis Cardinals name Chris Carpenter to start Game 3 in NLCS – MLB Playoffs
The St. Louis Cardinals have picked up their pitcher Chris Carpenter to start in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. The brilliant starter had recently demolished the Philadelphia Phillies’ offence, beating the
team in the decisive Game 5 of the National League Division Series.
Scheduled to be played on Wednesday, October 12, Game 3 of the NL Championship Series certainly carries greater consequence, one that will pave the Cardinals’ way for the anxiously awaited and monumental World Series.
"It's going to be a battle," the right-hander said. "Those guys can play, man. Those guys have some good starting pitching. They've got a really nice bullpen."
Considering the fact that the Milwaukee Brewers’ offence has pounded almost every defence throughout the regular and post-season, the ace pitcher, like he says, has to grapple with a number of strong players.
Barely has any defence sustained the intense pressure the Brewers have put on the rival teams. From Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder, the duo who continues to bring glory not only to themselves but also to the team, it is a tough test for Carpenter to hold
his ground.
Carpenter, on the other hand, accepts the challenge and calls it fun. For him, in realistic terms, the hitters like Lucroy, Morgan, Fielder, Braun, Hart and Weeks are a permanent challenge to reckon with.
"They've got two MVP candidates," Carpenter added. "The guys around Braun and Fielder, when you're looking at Rickie Weeks and Corey Hart and Nyjer [Morgan] and [Jonathan] Lucroy, all these guys can swing the bat."
Chris Carpenter, however, has a record that will certainly require his opponents to stand careful. With a 3.45 ERA in 34 games, he has 11 wins to his credit with 191 strike-outs, having a 1.26 WHIP.
With the ace pitcher starting Game 3, both Brewers and Cardinals’ fans will await the game with excitement. The Cardinals will be looking to Carpenter to guide them to victory in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series against the Brewers.
