St. Louis Cardinals not inclined to reveal starter’s name – MLB Playoffs
After winning the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, the St. Louis Cardinals team manager is keeping the name of his starter against the Milwaukee Brewers under wraps. Chris Carpenter, who pitched a shut-out against the Phillies
to bring the glory for the Cardinals, will be given some rest.
The left hander Jaime Garcia is one of the strongest contenders out there after Chris Carpenter. Friday’s game against the Phillies, whereby the Cardinals won the series 3-2, was a strong show of Carpenter’s excellence in pitching.
Kyle Lohse is another name that is being weighed. While Garcia gave up three runs in the seven innings that he threw, thereby losing the game 2-3, Lohse has pitched relatively well in Game 1.
Once asked who the starter will be for the National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers, Tony La Russa came up with an answer that did not have any specific revelation in it, neither did have a slight trace of who it could eventually
be.
"We have an idea [of what the rotation will be], but we're going to spend more time to pull it together," La Russa said. "I think you can rest assured we'll try to get Chris Carpenter as often as we can, so two days' rest, four times."
The fact that Chris Carpenter remained the subject of speculation and even mentioned in the question – thanks largely to his brilliant performance, he will be sorely missed in the first game against the Brewers.
"I really do think he can pitch with three days' rest," the manager said. "Early on, his delivery was out of whack, [pitching coach Dave Duncan] fixed it and it was too late."
No matter who comes to throw, the fact remains that Cardinals will need someone with a strong arm. The Brewers have maintained an enviable record at home of not losing. That is where they defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 5. Subsequently, that is
where they may beat the Cardinals if they manage to put in a good performance and.
