St. Louis Cardinals outshine the Milwaukee Brewers with 11-5 win – MLB Update
The St. Louis Cardinals are unstoppable as the 2011 World Series champions came down hard on the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday, April 06, to win the game by 11-5.
This was the first big game in the 2012 season without Albert Pujols, but none of the hitters disappointed the Cardinals as they aggressively went against the seemingly helpless Brewers pitchers.
While the Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia conceded only two runs in his strong 6-inning spell, Yovani Gallardo proved a costly choice for the Brewers who gave up no less than six runs merely in 3.2 innings with 14.73 ERA, adding to the Brewers’ disappointment.
It was reassuring for Jaime Garcia. "Our offense is unbelievable," Garcia said. "The guys are doing an amazing job. So when you give up two runs and your offense comes back and scores four, you feel like you want to be there for your team."
The Cardinals being ruthless with hitting was something that Yovani Gallardo acknowledged as being a good lineup. "They're tough," Gallardo said. "They have good hitters up and down their lineup. They do it all. They have everything -- they hit for power and average. They take advantage of mistakes. The balls I left up in the zone today, they took advantage of."
Part of the major disappointment and discontent to be seen was when neither Ryan Braun nor Aramis Ramirez, both the accomplished hitters of the Brewers, could score in having 4 and 5 at-bats respectively.
Cardinals’ offence remained invulnerable, demonstrating tremendous strength and force when it came to runs. From Rafael Furcal to Carlos Beltran, fro Matt Holliday to Lance Berkman, from David Freese to Yadier Molina to Jon Jay, all the hitters in the Cardinals scored to add to the team’s irreversible lead which culminated in 11-5 victory.
The Cardinals will have their next game on Saturday in the three-game series. With the 1-0 lead, the Cardinals seem all confident to score their first series victory here at Miller Park, making a strong case for the Cardinals entry into the 2012 with the ambition to  successfully defend the World Series title.
