St. Louis Cardinals prepare for series at home—MLB Update
The St. Louis Cardinals will have their Opening Day game at home on Friday, April 13, where they will confront the Chicago Cubs. The eagerly awaited game becomes all the more special since the Cardinals will enter here as the World Series Champions.
There will then be the Saturday’s ring ceremony and game. The moments will be exceptionally memorable for every player associated with the team as well as the fans who had waited with the bated breath to see the team win the World Series title for the 11th time in the franchise’s history.
Every player, like said earlier, is genuinely and excitingly looking forward to this game. David Freese is one of them.
"Oh, man," World Series hero David Freese said with a smile and a shake of the head. "It's going to be great. I've been thinking about it every day since we won. To get that ring and celebrate it with teammates, coaches, fans of the organization. It's a very special day."
St. Louis Cardinals so far have a distinctly good record in the new season whereby they seem all braced to beat any opponent. Without a shred of doubt, every game that the Cardinals play will have formidable competition as its ingredient.
As they continue to shine and wreck havoc on all the rival teams, the team manager Mike Matheny – who is currently one of the youngest active managers in MLB, is also holding his excitement for the much anticipated and awaited game at home.
"I was just looking at the calendar," Matheny said. "It's been two months since I've been home. I'm very much looking forward to getting back home, and I know the guys are, too. We've seen two Opening Days, and we've been on the short end as far as the reception goes.”
Along with the excitement, there will be a huge pressure for the team to dominate and win the series at home as it will be the first series at home since that great victory that the team scored last year, overwhelming the Texas Rangers in the best-of-seven games.
